Full Written Review
You should not turn up your nose on that course because it’s called ”SEO basics”. If you already know the ins and outs of SEO, i’d be lying big time if I claimed that you should watch it. Even if you take advantage of the free 7-day trial, you’d probably end up losing your time. But if you’ve only watched about 2 hours or less of SEO courses (in your life), look no further. It has its lows and you’ll notice it! But it will give you a solid foundation.
When you will be watching it, before making yourself comfortable with the basics of SEO, you’ll start by learning how search engines work which will make the following concepts and strategies easier to grasp. Dan Gorgone, will walk you true every specific aspects of SEO in depth and will even covers some aspects and strategies you won’t find in most courses.
It teaches SEO for programmers.
It’s a very well detailed and in-depth walk-through of what you need to include in your site’s code to make sure it’s appealing to Google and other search engines. Even if you’re not writing code, I highly recommend you don’t skip this part. It will help you get a clear idea of what you should be expecting from your partners/employees working on your website’s code.
Dan shares his favourite online tools
These include tools you will likely never have heard about including: “Woorank”, “Builtwith” and couples more. It may not seem like a big deal, but it really is. Using tools like those may be the difference between success and failure or being ranked on google in 3 months or in a year.
As you should expect from TeamTreeHouse, everything is well laid out and well structured. The videos are all of professional quality and you get the usual well designed quizzes.
On almost every course from TeamTreeHouse there’s around 2-3 quizzes per section. Most questions are rather simple, but they tend to focus on the most important concepts. As a result the quizzes are a good way to make sure you understand what matters most.
Is it outdated?
This course is a few years old, BUT that does not impact the quality of the course in a major way.
Except for one exception, all of the game-changing updates in google’s algorithm had already been implemented at the time. The exception being the “mobile friendly update”. Here’s an article where you’ll learn all you need to know about it. When you’ll have mastered this as well, you will have a solid SEO skill set.
In the end, I’d say it’s definitely worth it, especially since a treehouse subscription gives you access to all of their other courses. If you’re unsure, go ahead and try it for free.
